SAMCO is a family-run business based in Adare, Co. Limerick, Ireland.
SAMCO offers two types of degradable films, one made from Soil Bio-Plastics and one made from Oxo-Biodegradable resins, both for the agricultural sector.
To produce these films, SAMCO operates COEX blown film line. The blown film performance using the original auxiliary equipment provided by the supplier would deliver an average line speed of 80 m/min (throughput 125 Kg/h).
SAMCO collaborated with SYNCRO several years ago with the goal of improving line performance, film quality and process reliability.
In December 2024, SAMCO installed its third blown line upgrade with SYNCRO’s state-of-the-art components. The upgrade included the following key technologies:
TYPHOON Y2-048 Automatic Air Ring
- Carbon Fiber Chamber: lightweight and robust design enhances airflow distribution.
- Tailor-made Lip-Set: specifically designed for biodegradable materials, optimizes flow control to maintain bubble stability.
- Lifting System: ensures precision during the production process, facilitating fine-tuned adjustments.
SKYMEX Non-Contact Capacitive Measurement System
- Provides real-time monitoring of film thickness without physically touching the material, thus preventing any contamination or damage.
- Enhances accuracy with a +/- 0.4 micron at 2-sigma accuracy, producing consistent 8-micron biodegradable films.
SYNTROL INFINITY Line Supervisory System
- An intelligent supervisory system that automates profile control and enhances process monitoring.
- A system that reduces manual intervention, improving overall line reliability and operational efficiency.
SYNCRO upgrade has allowed to achieve a 30% increase in production maintaining bubble stability, improving process reliability through auto profile control and film quality maintaining a solid 0,4-micron adjustment at 2sigma and producing 8-micron biodegradable film. Following the upgrade, now the line can maintain a speed of 110 m/min (throughput 180 kg/h).
